Tropical climate with hot summers (December–March, 25–35 °C / 77–95 °F) and mild winters (June–September, 20–25 °C / 68–77 °F). Usually only short rain showers – light clothing and sun/insect protection are recommended.
Pleasant: March–June and September–November (mild weather, fewer tourists).
High Season: December–February (hot, busy, through to Carnival).
Tap water is technically safe to drink but has a chlorine taste. In restaurants, ask for "Água da casa" – it's free, filtered, and tastes great!
